Which is better blinds or shades for protecting your privacy?
Room Darkening Shades are the best option for you.
There are a ton of options in all price ranges for you to choose from,..all will give privacy, especially if you specifically ask for room darkening products when you shop.
Blinds are a bit less expensive, in general, but if you want them to be ‘really’ private, you should invest in decorative tape that is applied over the holes for the strings. The rub is at that point you are at the roller shade price level anyway so, the moral of the story is choose what you like.
Many companies have independent liners now which means you could even have a bamboo or woven shade down all day, and still have your privacy when you lower the liner behind the shade.
